GDPR

On May 28, 2018, the European Law on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect. This privacy policy explains how Tinnitus House (an initiative of the BrainInnovations Foundation) complies with European Union data protection requirements. The privacy of participants in the Tinnitus House studies is a great asset. In accordance with the new GDPR, we handle your personal data very carefully. Personal data that you enter on the Tinnitus House website will only be used for Tinnitus House. Your personal data will not be shared with third parties. The database is owned by the BrainInnovations Foundation.
Gegevens die Tinnitus House verzamelt:
- Tinnitus House only asks you to enter your email address. We use this to be able to contact you again at a later stage for follow-up surveys and to send you the results of the surveys. We therefore do not ask for name, surname, address details or other information that could lead directly to you.
- Tinnitus House will ask you about your age. This data is necessary in our study because your age may be related to your tinnitus.
- If you participate in the Tinnitus House surveys, your data will be stored in our database. If you complete the questionnaire several times, only the most recently completed questionnaire will be included in the results.
- As you will see or have already seen, we initially store the data with Google, because the questionnaire is built in Google Forms. However, Google does not have e-mail addresses at its disposal, these are converted to special codes by means of encryption, which cannot be traced back to e-mail addresses.
Accounts and contacting Tinnitus House
At the moment we have chosen not to make it possible for participants to contact the employees of Tinnitus House directly. It is also not possible for you to create an account. We therefore do not collect any data from you in this regard. At this point, we have chosen not to make it possible for participants to contact the Tinnitus House staff directly. It is also not possible for you to create an account. We therefore do not collect any data from you in this regard either.
This is certainly not because we would not want to assist you with answers to pressing questions, but it is solely due to understaffing: we simply do not (yet) have sufficient staff to maintain contact with participants in a professionally acceptable manner. We certainly hope to be able to do this in the future. For specific questions about help with your tinnitus, we would like to refer you to our conversation partner Hoormij Foundation. Of course you can also ask your question to a fellow sufferer who can be found on our Facebook page
